Process To Gain Testimony

“You gain a vibrant, life-changing testimony today the same way it has always been done. The process hasn’t been changed. It comes through desire, study, prayer, obedience, and service. That is why the teachings of prophets and apostles, past and present, are as relevant to your life today as they ever have been.”

M. Russell Ballard, “Learning the Lessons of the Past,” Ensign, May 2009, 34

Teaching Your Daughter About Respect

On the radio today, I heard Dr. James Dobson say that from the age of 7 to 16, a father should take his daughter on dates once a month. Through those dates, he will be showing her how she should be respected and expected to be treated by males.

In doing this regularly, ones daughter will learn what being respectfully is like and that she should expect it. Hopefully if someone treats her otherwise while dating, she will won't allow it any further.

Maybe this is the real reason that we had daddy-daughter dates in Young Women's growing up. It never occurred to me but what a great idea.

Could the same be done with a mother-son date, where a mother could teach her son about showing respect to females?
